Built on Craft
Craft is a matter of conviction. From their workspaces, our creative community reflects on the power and purpose of working by hand.
“When I’m there, present. It's just me and the brush, that's when I make my best work. ”
Artist & Sign Painter Will Van Zee wears the Redwood Edge Chukka.
“It's not a bad thing to be self-taught.”
Chef Nathanael Cox wears the Waterproof Field Boot.
Like us at Timberland, these creators believe true craft is practiced by doing things the right way, not the easy way.
“I feel very privileged that I get to work with my hands.”
Textile Artist Cassandra Mayela Allen wears the Stone Street Platform Boat Shoe.
“You can't really predict everything. It's important to have the grit to keep going. ”
Florist Jennifer Huynh wears the Rowan Way 6-Inch Boot.
Craft requires passion and perseverance. These makers show resilience by preserving time-honored techniques and upholding the highest standards.
“If you're going to hone your craft, you need repetition.”
Steelworker Nathaniel Kreil wears the Boondock Ultralight 6" Composite Toe Work Boot.
“I really want to build stuff that serves a real purpose.”
Woodworker Jonah Peterschild wears the Tempe Moc Toe Waterproof Alloy Toe Work Boot.
We believe in preserving techniques and setting high standards. Featured in our Built on Craft campaign, our community epitomizes resilience, proving that craft is about doing things the right way, not the easy way. It is the hard-earned product of passion and perseverance. From our workspaces to yours, we celebrate the power of working by hand and the grit to keep going.
