Timberland | 25 Years of Path of Service
Long before anyone ever heard of a phone app, we discovered the real secret to making connections—volunteering. Since 1992, we’ve been leaving the office to paint, plant, rebuild, clean, green…whatever needs to get done. And we’ve made tons of long-lasting friendships with neighbors and each other along the way. No app required.
Every employee gets up to 40 hours of paid time off every year to volunteer. Together, we’ve served over 1,200,000 hours worldwide. It’s the 25th anniversary of the program, and we’re just getting started.
We’ve planted over 9,200,000 trees since 2001. In places like China’s Horqin desert, Haiti, NYC, all across Europe, and on and on and on. By 2020, our goal is to have planted over 10 million trees!
2005’s Hurricane Katrina, the 2011 earthquake in Haiti, the Japanese tsunami… these are just a few examples of our recovery efforts. After a tornado destroyed homes in Joplin, MO, we built new ones in our parking lot and trucked them down.
Over 32,000 square feet of urban green space has been created or restored since 2016. We even have an organic garden at HQ with proceeds going to a local food bank.
You can make a difference too. Find out what your community needs. Connect and serve through volunteermatch.org.
Beyond our service, we think it’s important that our products are responsible too. Read about one of our most eco-conscious boots, the Earthkeepers, that we’ve been making for 10 years.
