Ever wonder what it would be like to run a craft brewery? This dream became a reality for Erin Lowder, by a fortuitous chance encounter. The Midwesterner had always loved the world of fashion — she spent her formative years planted in front of a sewing machine and earned a fashion design degree from Columbia College in Chicago. She landed a job in the industry after school, but a day out changed her career path.
While hanging out at Solemn Oath Brewery, a then-brand-new Chicago beer venture, Lowder met the owner and was offered a part-time job in the brewery's taproom. She took it and found her true calling — and quickly moved from part-time taproom employee to taproom manager and finally to her current role, general manager (aka boss lady).
Her fashion background gives her a unique perspective to the world of craft beer - and as a female in a male-dominated industry, she’s paving the way for a new generation of craft brewmasters.
