STRATHAM, NH – August 11, 2011 – This spring Timberland commits to equipping women with footwear that performs in the outdoors.  The Spring 2012 collection combines beautiful, trend-right craftsmanship with protection, comfort and environmentally-conscious design.  New footwear from Timberland is designed to keep women looking good and feeling great throughout the warm weather seasons.

“We know women look to the outdoors during the spring and summer as a place for both relaxation and empowerment – it’s a peaceful getaway from the everyday, and also place to take on a challenge and be adventurous,” said Lisa Demarkis, vice president  of women’s and kids’ footwear for at Timberland.  “Our women’s footwear combines beauty and performance, while keeping the environment in mind.  Women look feminine and stylish, and they’re prepared and comfortable in our shoes, whether they’re walking in the park or a heading to the mountains for a weekend hike.”

Tackling rough terrain calls for a trail shoe that provides stability and support.  For a superior, smooth ride no matter where the path leads, the new Trail Wave™ Collection features a proprietary stability system to offer the ultimate stability, cushioning and traction on uneven surfaces, creating a comfortable, superior ride on the trail.  Innovative Trail Wave™ technology features wave shaped lugs that independently absorb the impact of the varying angles of the ground and enhance surface contact of the Gripstick™ rubber for greater traction.  At the same time, a dual-density, EVA cushioned outsole has a softer bottom layer for shock absorption and a firmer top layer midsole for added lightweight support and comfort , resulting in long-lasting wear without fatigue. The Trail Wave™ Oxford provides guaranteed waterproof, breathable protection with an innovative Gore-Tex® membrane, and the Trail Wave™ Mid Hiker is water and stain resistant with ion-mask™ technology by P2i.  The wave pattern is combined with a silhouette and color palette made specifically for women, to keep them looking great and feeling equipped all season.

Technology is also at the forefront of the new Formentor for Women Boat Shoe, which provides best-in-class traction on wet and dry surfaces.  Gripstick™ technology combines Gripstick™ rubber with Quad-cut siped soles to push water away in all directions, maximizing surface contact and enhancing grip.  The addition of liquid-repellent ion-mask™ technology by P2i and built-in drainage ports that allow water to escape easily make the Formentor quick-drying and breathable.  A unique combination of X-static® fiber made with a layer of 99.9% pure silver is incorporated into the footbed and lining for superior climate control and odor management.  The Formentor’s sleek low profile style is just what women want in a boat shoe.

Women seeking practical, everyday footwear can appreciate the versatility of a heel that is stylish and comfortable.  For Spring 2012 Timberland introduces the Earthkeepers® Rudston Short Bootie and Earthkeepers® Rudston Mid Lace-up, incredibly comfortable heeled boots in a fresh color palette and a trend-right, transitional silhouette.  Both boots feature leather-covered anti-fatigue footbeds for all-day comfort.  Linings are made with 100% recycled PET from recycled plastic bottles, durable lug outsoles are made with 15% recycled rubber and leather is sourced from a Silver-rated tannery recognized for its industry-leading water, waste and energy management efforts.  The Rudston Collection for spring strikes a unique balance: rugged enough for the outdoors without losing feminine styling.

Another tried and true springtime silhouette for Timberland is the ballerina, and for Spring 2012 the Deering Boat-Ballerina represents the ultimate combination of style, comfort and eco-consciousness.  Easy on-and-off makes this premium full-grain leather and suede shoe an easy choice for women who value rugged durability and long-lasting wear.  A printed, removable footbed provides cushioning for extra comfort throughout the day, while a durable 15% recycled rubber outsole and 100% recycled PET linings and laces made from recycled plastic bottles provide breathability and sure-footed traction for warm weather adventures by the water.

Timberland redefines minimalistic natural style with the new Earthkeepers® Sandal Collection.   Women can free their feet and escape outside with a fresh take on sandals that not only look great, but are also made with the environment in mind.  Sandals are crafted using woven fabric made with 74% organic jute and 26% cotton in the footbed, 15% recycled rubber in the outsole and organic raffia for stylish accents. The Earthkeepers® Maeslin Peep Toe Sling is a stylish peep toe wedge featuring an anti-fatigue midsole and footbed to keep feet comfortable and supported throughout the day.  The Earthkeepers® Katama Flat Sandalboasts a trendy multi-strap design and adjustable ankle strap, for a customized fit.  Its contoured cork footbed adapts to the shape of the foot to offer women breathable comfort as they explore in the outdoors.  The Earthkeepers® Chauncey Sandal takes the multi-strap design to a new level – with a 3 ½ inch wood-wrapped heel.  An all-natural raffia wrap creates a minimalist look and feet stay comfortable with a compression-molded EVA midsole for lightweight cushioning and shock absorption.  In true Timberland fashion, the Earthkeepers® Sandal Collection merges beauty, eco-conscious innovation and comfort features to deliver quality-crafted, minimalist footwear to enhance women’s experiences in the outdoors.

Drawing its original inspiration from the hand-crafted boots and shoes of post-industrial era New England, Timberland Boot Company® footwear is a premium collection that is constantly evolving, meeting and exceeding the demands of women who admire quality, authenticity and classic design.  The Spring 2012 women’s line takes inspiration from the New England town of Haverhill, Massachusetts, best known for its production of beautiful women’s shoes in the early 1900s.  Contemporary patterns are blended with simple details using natural materials and naked leathers to create classically beautiful footwear.  In the Lucille Series heavy leathers are replaced with canvas made from a jute and cotton fabric blend for the warm weather.  Boots remain practical and rugged, yet are made lightweight in fold down styles.  The Marge Series pays tribute to the popular heeled styles of the era, featuring sturdy peep toe heels and open toe wedges.  As society became less conservative, women’s footwear was permitted to take on more feminine design.  Heels in the series feature intricate details reflecting repairs over time, such as a leather overlay nailed to the back of the heel to cover wear and tear.  TheGavie Series is a summer tribute to the artist of the era, featuring flat sandals with beautiful details like braided jute woven through rich leather.  This season select Gavie styles marry boot styling with a sandal, using canvas to create a more covered look.
