STRATHAM, NH —January 19, 2011— The Timberland Company today announced plans to open a new store location at 201 Newbury Street in Boston, bringing authentic outdoor footwear and apparel to one of the city’s premier retail locations. Construction for the new store – housed in the old Prince School building on the corner of Newbury and Exeter Streets -- began in early January, with plans to open in early spring.
The new retail space will be designed to reflect Timberland’s long-standing commitment to sustainability through the use of recycled materials and other eco-conscious building practices.
“Timberland is a brand rooted in the outdoors of New England, and we’re very excited to embark on this new adventure in our own backyard,” said John Pazzani, Vice President of Retail and E-Commerce for Timberland. “Newbury Street is one of the most coveted retail locations in the Northeast; we look forward to showcasing our brand and providing consumers the authentic outdoor gear they have come to expect from Timberland.”
The 201 Newbury Street location will offer outdoor apparel, accessories and footwear, including Timberland’s popular Earthkeepers™ collection of shoes and boots made from eco-conscious materials. Bostonians will also enjoy the latest performance offerings for men, women and kids, to make the most of their next outdoor adventure.
The Newbury Street store joins existing Timberland® retail locations in the greater Boston area, in Natick, MA (The Natick Collection), Peabody, MA (The North Shore Mall) and Salem, NH (The Mall at Rockingham Park), as well as outlets in Wrentham, MA and Kittery, ME. The Cambridgeside Galleria store will be closing on January 23, making way for the Newbury Street location.
