TIMBERLAND EMPLOYEES AROUND THE GLOBE TAKE PART IN 18TH ANNUAL SERV-A-PALOOZA SERVICE EVENT

MORE THAN 700 VOLUNTEERS COME TOGETHER TO SERVE THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES

STRATHAM, NH, September 17, 2015 – As a global leader in sustainability and social responsibility, outdoor lifestyle brandTimberland today announced plans to complete roughly 70 service projects in more than ten countries as part of the company's 18th annual global Serv-a-palooza service event. Today, and in the weeks surrounding, Timberland employees, business and civic partners, and guests around the globe come together to transform communities through hands-on service.

At the heart of Timberland's unwavering commitment to corporate responsibility is supporting the communities in which employees work, live and play; the brand has celebrated its longstanding heritage of volunteerism through its global Serv-a-palooza event for the past 18 years. The signature fall celebration provides Timberland employees worldwide one full day of service to support the community, build teamwork and engage stakeholders in the brand's ethic of service.

"Serv-a-palooza presents an incredible opportunity for Timberland employees to reconnect with our colleagues and our neighbors, and provide much-needed support to the communities around us," said Atlanta, McIlwraith, senior manager of community engagement for Timberland. "During this transformational day of service, now 18 years strong, volunteers literally roll up their sleeves and pull on their boots to make a real difference. We are very excited to be working with so many great communities that support us around the globe."

Across North America, Europe and Asia, Timberland is hosting projects in approximately 70 locations, across ten countries with some 5,000 hours of service being performed by 700+ volunteers in September and October. Some events include:

  • Restoring facilities of a leading tropical forestry research institution in Malaysia
  • Cleaning up grounds at the historic Chirk Castle in the United Kingdom
  • Conducting park activities with local youth to encourage engagement in the outdoors in Italy
  • Assisting in maintenance of forests in the Tama-zoo mountain near Tokyo
  • Refurbishing a community center in New York City as part of an annual 9/11 service day event
  • Today, at Timberland Headquarters alone, more than 350 employees and guests will serve more than 2,800 hours in seven community building projects in neighboring New Hampshire communities

Initiated in 1992, Timberland's Path of Service™ program offers full-time employees up to 40 paid volunteer hours per year to do volunteer work in the community – whether it's refurbishing a school, reviving a local park trail or cleaning up coastal beaches. Timberland organizes two global service events each year. The annual spring event, timed around Earth Day, focuses on Timberland's commitment to protecting and enhancing the outdoors, while Serv-a-palooza in the fall, focuses on serving communities in need.
