His + Hers: Hiking Essentials

By: @outlinedcloth

In just under a year of marriage, we’ve officially made it to spring – and with the flowers out and the sun shining, it’s the perfect time to venture outside. As we started 2018 with the purchase of our first home, we’re dealing with our fair share of challenges, but the changing weather is a great reason to let go of the stress and worry that comes with responsibility. Since Southern California has so many great hiking options, we’re taking advantage and taking time to get outside and gain some perspective. Some of our favorite hikes include Runyon Canyon, Escondido Falls, Potato Chip Rock, Murphy Ranch, Crystal Cove and Top of the World. Prepped with our new Timberland gear, we ventured out.

Having the right gear is essential for any adventure, even if it’s just for a day in the bay. Today I decided to rock the new Timberland FlyRoam™ Trail Leather Boots. These are beyond comfortable. Having great ankle support is essential and with their upper mesh linings, I felt fully supported; it reminded me of wearing compression socks for high school basketball.

My wife was repping the Timberland Heritage Lite 6-inch boots in Peach, which held true to their name and were lightweight and flexible. Spring weather hasn’t brought full-on sunshine yet, so layering with the Timberland Ragged Mountain Waterproof jacket rounded out her look. And of course, no hike is complete without a proper backpack for your goods and some shades to shield your eyes.

Whether we’re stuck in traffic or in an office all day, it’s refreshing to get out of the confines of our everyday lives. The sound of the trees blowing, the cool breeze on your skin - nature just has a way of relaxing you. Our outdoor hikes help us to push away the worries and enjoy the day. When life is really throwing a lot at you, get outside, take in the air and just experience the beauty of this world.
