Hundreds of Minds are Better than One: Limited Release FlyRoam Collection

They say that two minds are better than one, but we wanted to take this theory to a whole other level – by using hundreds of minds. We know that sounds like a lot and it was. There were brainstorms. There were piles of sketches. There were votes. There were comments, on top of more comments. And then – it happened. Designs began to be tweaked and improved. The comments were insightful and useful. Finally, three modern, athletic and stylish boots emerged;  each individual in design, and all excellent enough to carry the Timberland name.

We wanted to create shoes that had our heritage packaged in a sleek and distinctive design. As comfortable and agile as a sneaker, but with the style and swagger of a well-crafted boot. We knew we had to think big, so we went to Betabrand to get to the best brains out there: yours. Your favorite designs became our new Limited Edition FlyRoam collection – more premium than a sneaker, more agile than a traditional boot.

We loved the look of these designs, but still felt like it wasn’t enough. These boots had heft, but we wanted them to feel lightweight. We wanted your footsteps to feel swift and practically weightless. Enter the new AeroCore energy system. Inspired by high-performance sneakers, we developed a durable, lightweight sole with high rebound cushioning. 

Meet our three winning designs:

The FlyRoam City Hiker is made with gray premium leather, designed with a hiker profile and a padded collar. The cushioned gray uppers pay homage to sneaker style so they won’t be out of place at your fave bar or at a gig. 

Get fitted into our FlyRoam Sport Hiker which is the weekend warrior you’ve been waiting for with its extra-soft lining made with recycled PET and cushioned, removable footbeds. Don’t be afraid of taking these out in inclement weather either, the brown grain leather is water- and stain-repellant.

The FlyRoam Pull-On Hiker mixes modern design with athletic performance cues and we’re loving the final look. With padded collars for comfort and shock-absorbing lightweight outsoles, expect all-day comfort and non-stop street cred.
