Road Trip Reads #5

Hell’s Angels by Hunter S. Thompson

From the godfather of gonzo journalism himself, Hunter S. Thompson documents his time on the road with the well-known motorcycle club. Considering it’s Thompson’s first ever published non-fiction novel, it’s a must to accompany you on your own journey across the open roads.

MAKE YOUR LANDMARKS: Prada, Marfa

Along the open roads of Marfa, Texas stands the Prada installation. Our MarkMakers hopped off the Land Rover to get a closer look at the lonely sculpture. Prada, Marfa wasn’t ever supposed to have ongoing maintenance, but after being vandalized just days after its installation in 2005, non-profit Ballroom Marfa took up its cause and it remains in perfect condition today.

MAKE MY LANDMARKS: MARBLE CANYON

The road trip rolled into Marble Canyon and the MarkMakers took some time out to explore the sights. Kevin Russ, who’s made a name for himself traveling far and wide in recent years, shared some of his thoughts about the breathtaking experience.

“The northern part of Marble Canyon is just so nice. The bridge that goes across the canyon is impressive and looks like it was quite a feat of construction. The water is just so green, unlike a lot of other areas I’ve been to.”
