The Path of Service™ program challenges our employees’ potential, builds strong teams and galvanizes our company’s greatest resources as a unified force for change. The Path of Service™ program encourages an individual’s special passion and offers global events for consumers and stakeholders.

Service Sabbaticals
Service Sabbaticals give employees the opportunity to think big and create even greater change at a non-profit organization of their choice. Individuals are challenged to commit their special skills at a non-profit of their choice. Length of service can last up to six months. We also offer shorter sabbatical programs, and a new two-week program was inspired by the leadership of Timberland employees who deployed to the Gulf to provide immediate assistance to those affected by the devastation from Hurricane Katrina.

Change on a Global Scale
Around the world, employees develop their skills and expand their horizons through service.

• EarthWatch service journeys have united Timberland personnel with scientists in communities in Africa, Spain and Costa Rica for team-based environmental research and conservation projects.
• The Global Stewards Program develops 24 colleagues around the world as regional leaders of our service ethic. They guide and inspire local innovation and impact, scaling best practices and increasing community-based collaborations in their regions.
• The John Lewis Fellowship, named for the heroic and inspirational Civil Rights leader, emphasizes social justice, civic leadership and service as a foundation for professional and personal leadership for selected members of our community.

By the end of 2007, our employees will have invested more than 500,000 hours of service to create meaningful change for children, families, and the environment. Through global events and partnerships with organizations and consumers, that impact grows dramatically.

Earth Day
Earth Day combines our passion for service with our love of the environment. Every April, we join millions of like-minded people in a global celebration of our planet. We dedicate the entire month to raising awareness of environmental issues, sustainable products, best practices in alternative energy and business, and the transparent reporting of how Timberland impacts our environment. Together with environmental leaders and local partners, we engage thousands of people in service to preserve and conserve the great outdoors.

Serv-a-palooza
The big event with the strange name. Serv-a-palooza is our annual daylong celebration of service. Around the globe, thousands of employees, partners and fellow community members dedicate their time, passion and skills to make a difference. The impact is felt far and wide, from a school in rural India to homes on the Gulf Coast. There are lots of ways to measure success. With Serv-a-palooza, we measure it in miles of trails cleared, and number of trees planted, murals painted, and communities and lives transformed.
